Meet Ms. Gordon
Hello! My name is Ms. Gordon, and I am so glad to be your child’s Fourth Grade ELA and Social Studies Teacher! This is my first year as a part of the Farmington family. I have previously taught First and Second Grade. My goals are to help your child feel successful both in and outside of the classroom and to foster his or her love for reading and learning. I am excited for what this new year will bring!
I was raised in Memphis and then moved out West to attend the University of Colorado at Boulder. I graduated from CU with a B.A. in Sociology and a minor in Education. After graduation, I returned to the 901 and completed my master’s degree in Teaching at the University of Memphis.
I am an avid reader and a lover of the great outdoors! I also really enjoy combining these two passions of mine… Reading outside is so much fun! Some of my other hobbies include swimming, yoga, hiking, snowboarding, and taking my dog Samantha to the dog park. I love Netflix, iced coffee, Sour Patch Kids, green tea, Amazon, potted plants, and Hello Kitty!

Language Arts
I can't wait to guide you through four exciting Expeditionary Modules designed to challenge your thinking and help you grow as readers and writers.
Module 1: Poets, Poetry, and Becoming Writers
Module 2: Animal Defense Mechanisms
Module 3: The American Revolution
Module 4: Ratifying the 19th Amendment
We will write paragraphs, short responses, poems, narratives with dialogue, book reviews, informational books, and point of view pieces to share our learning. Together we will build your reading stamina and learn strategies for comprehending different types of texts. Most of our work will happen in the classroom, and most assessments are based on accumulated knowledge that you apply to fresh texts.
